Grodno
and Vicinity Former Residents Society in Israel This list is a compilation of names of survivors from the Jewish communities that existed in Grodno and vicinity prior to the Holocaust. It has been compiled from a number of sources: 1. Archives of a Grodno relief organization in New York that was in touch with and extended aid to many of the survivors immediately after World War II. 2. Names of survivors who arrived in Israel after World War II and registered with the Grodno and Vicinity Former Residents Society. 3. Archives of the Jewish Agency. 4. Grodno Yizkor Book and other sources. We have made strenuous efforts to make this list as inclusive as possible, but it must be assumed that there were survivors who were not in touch with any of the official or other organizations that were involved in assisting survivors after the Holocaust, and are not included in this list. Anyone who has additional names and information, or remarks, is urged to help us update this list. The following are e-mail (and Fax) contacts for this purpose: J. Starowolsky - starjr@bezeqint.net or Fax: 972 3 673 2532 J. Menes - jemenes@green.co.il, or Fax: 972 2 5814692 The list is limited to family and given names. In some cases additional information is available. Please get in touch with one of the above contacts. Most of the names have been Anglicized and in looking for a particular name one should also look for variations. We hope that this list will be helpful to those interested in the pre-Holocaust Jewish community of Grodno, as well as to those seeking genealogical information. |
